TEAM LEADER – MIS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Team Leader, Management Information System, in our Human Resources and Administration Division.

TEAM LEADER – MIS (SALARY $6,333,301 + 25% gratuity based on performance)

The Scientific Research Council (SRC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Team Leader to provide strategic leadership and hands-on management of our complete technology landscape. The individual will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, systems, and applications. The ideal candidate will ensure the operations are secure, efficient, and scalable, while proactively identifying and deploying new technologies to support and advance core business objectives.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field combined with significant, equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and implement the Council’s IT strategy, ensuring it aligns with its business goals.
  • Prepare and execute annual operation plans, strategic objectives, and technology roadmaps for IT function.
  • Formulate, implement and enforce IT policies, procedures and best practices across the organization.

Infrastructure & Operations system

  • Oversee IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud services, and telecommunications systems.
  • Design and manage a comprehensive service plan for all IT operations, including helpdesk system and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), to ensure effective user support.
  • Develop and maintain a robust disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Implement and manage robust cybersecurity protocols and solutions to ensure the security of all company data and IT assets.
  • Ensure all IT operation and system fully comply with relevant with relevant licenses, data protection regulations (e.g., Jamaica’s Data Protection Act), and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage activities of the IT unit, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely execution of tasks.
  • Lead, monitor, and develop the IT team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance, and service-orientation culture.

Project & Budget Management

  • Lead the design and execution of all IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring on time delivery and within budget.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to align technology initiatives with business strategy and drive digital transformation.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong, hands-on knowledge of network architecture, system administration (Windows/Linux), cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure), cybersecurity principles, database mgmt.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Project Management: Expertise in IT projects from planning to successful execution.
