LIBRARY TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (SALARY $1,711,060)

The Library Technical Assistant supports the Librarian with the daily operations of the library, focusing on technical and administrative tasks to ensure seamless library services are provided in accordance with the goals and policies of the Council.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

  • ASc. in Library Studies or Library Science Certificate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Library databases, e.g. Koha)

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) to Three (3) years experience in a related field

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES

  • Results-oriented and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) at all levels
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Tech savvy
  • Knowledge of Koha database (an advantage)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inputs entries in the Natural Products and Journals databases
  • Researches information on various subject matter for internal and external clients of the Documentation Centre
  • Distributes journals, books and other information based on specific requests by clients
  • Selects information from various documents and index articles for easy retrieval
  • Assists with literature searches in other libraries for internal and external clients
  • Shelves journals, books and other materials in predetermined order
  • Participates in the preparation of posters for exhibitions and other activities of the Council
  • Assists with manning exhibitions and displays
  • Participates in the proper management of newspaper clippings
  • Assists with the labeling and numbering of publications
  • Laminate and bind documents as requested for both internal and external clients
  • Performs any other duty which may be assigned by the Librarian
